YHFF is a micro flower farm that grows flowers on a small scale, producing fragrant, field grown blooms. We love to grow flower varieties that are harder to source at the flower markets and our favourite stems to design with are those that have grown with a natural curve or bursting with fragrance.

We grow daffodils, tulips, roses, ranunculus, sweetpeas, dahlias, chrysanthemums, zinnias and hydrangeas, together with a variety of foliage such as honeysuckle and scented geraniums, that add character and texture to our designs. Our favourite designs are garden inspired, romantic and whimsical and growing our own flowers allows us to create this beauty.

We use flowers grown on our farm and work together with local flower farms to gather more blooms for our wedding design work.

YHFF consists of 20 flower beds that are composed of perennial plants, such as bulbs and chrysanthemums and annual species such as sweetpeas, zinnias and cosmos. Each bed is tendered to seasonally so that we can grow flowers during our growing season from mid August through until May.

YHFF began through a shared love of daffodils in 2016. It is now a full service wedding and event florist, together with micro flower farm.

Located in Hexham, YHFF utilises its small scale of a quarter acre to produce bee-friendly, fragrant blooms tended by owners Ash and Lachie.

The farm is located within a sheep enterprise (compost heaven!) and operates via a closed loop system, supporting the Australian slow flowers movement that farmerflorist Ash is so passionate about.

Ash sows the seeds, tends to seedlings and carefully watches the stems bloom, while Lachie coordinates the maintenance of the farm. Together, they aim to run an environmentally friendly micro flower farm.

As the farm is located on a private farming enterprise, the farm is open by appointment only.

Meet the girl behind the flowers: Ash

I love growing and sourcing beautiful local flowers - its what gets me out of bed each morning! I am a true farmer florist. I love growing fragrant David Austin roses, cheery Billy Buttons and dreamy hydrangeas. I am inspired by Annabelle Hickson, Edna Walling and Debra Prinzing.

I am passionate about the slow flowers movement and designing with Australian grown product. As head designer at YHFF, I want to reduce the number of kilometres flowers travel and support other local flower farmers.

I am often found with a pair of secateurs in one hand while trying to fit a roadside bush into the back of my ute. I love watching the seasons change within the farm and wider world around me, and look forward to continuing to grow, design and share beautiful floral designs.
